Description
The magnificent rock formations were formed by volcanic activity about 395 million years ago. This dramatic coastline of Shetland has been eroded by the crashing of powerful seas of the Atlantic Ocean where a mist of sea spray hangs. Shetland is the most northern part of the United Kingdom and sits in the middle of the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean and is closer to Norway than the mainland of the UK. There is a great Viking heritage on the Islands.
